The 2017 Foundation Red Wine is an attractive Merlot-based blend. Sweet cherry, plum, wild flowers and mint combine in a supple red wine to drink now and over the next few years. There is lovely savoriness to the 2017, but then again most of this fruit is from Oak Knoll.
2017 FoundationRed Blend
The love of everything hockey
finds its way into a fine blend with our 2017 Foundation. This nuanced velvety creation,
inspired by the Right Bank Bordeaux wines, lays the foundation for the three proprietors
of Vineyard 36 represented by the Roman numeral III. The label itself is the replica shape of an ice rink, with our interpretation of skate marks on the ice, including the silver foil design inspired by 2010 Winter Olympics
Silver medal winner Tim Gleason.
Tasting Notes:
Explosive red and black fruit aromas are complimented by hints of violets, perfume, baking spices and vanilla. Bright Bing cherry, hints of sandalwood and clove with a mouthwatering acid profile, medium-full body and velvety tannin structure. A slight mineral, slate component adds a nuance to this fresh, approachable red blend. 86% Merlot (86% Orchard Merlot, 14% George III Cabernet Sauvignon)
